Don Stinson Announces Retirement

From a press release dated March 14, 2012...

MSD Decatur Superintendent, Don Stinson, announced his retirement at Tuesday's board meeting.  The retirement is apparently effective June 30.  The Board immediately and unanimously voted to put Dr. Debra Sullivan as his replacement.

This says yet again to the Decatur community, that the Board does not care what you think.  Every other Superintendent replacement has an open, community involved, search.  Since Sullivan has been the steward of debatable educational improvements all these years as Stinson's right arm, it bogs the district down with stale old ideas.

The agenda did not advertise the Superintendent vote, so Decaturites had absolutely no chance to weigh in.

We have been waiting for this day for the last few years. Now the residents of Decatur Township need to make the changes that are necessary on the board!

Does anyone know if they bothered to redistrict since the census - as required by law?

Don't they have to state how much they are paying the new superintendent?

Let's see. It might be the woman who has been paid to follow Sullivan around this year, while Sullivan was paid to follow Stinson around.

When you figure out who she is, you can ask who took her place.

Then ask how much this marching band cost the taxpayers. If you add it to the wasted money found by the tax audit, you might have enough to prevent firing all the elementary school social workers next year. Or enough to prevent having nearly 30 kids ranging from moderately autistic to gifted in an elementary classroom with 1 teacher and no aide. In this district, there's probably enough squandered money to pay for all of the above and a nice statue of Stinson in front of the high school.

Journey To Excellence, my ass.

“I’ve had the privilege and good fortune to work with a progressive and supportive School Board, and a knowledgeable, highly professional, student-centered administrative team,” said Stinson."

“Superintendent Stinson has always had the best interest of the young people of Decatur Township at the top of his agenda,” said Huffman.

I hope that any Decatur taxpayers in attendance had their hip boots on. It was sure gettin' deep during that meeting. DUI Don and his pals are lucky they didn't break their arms slapping each other on the back.

Hope the TV people can find out how much Stinson will get from his pension per month. Would guess it will be about $5000 per month. What a rip off. How much are they paying the new superintendent?

Will he still get the GREAT BIG retirement package that was published a few years ago. Teachers who agreed to retire this year were offered money incentive for health care account, will he also get that?

The one following Debbie Sullivan is Nan Weiseman she was at Valley Mills then the gold building. It sounds like DUI Don is coming back as a consultant after retirement to make up the rest of his income.

What is Stinson consulting about? How much did teachers get for health insurance when they retired? How much are they paying Stinson? Maybe TV people can find answers. They did in Wayne township.

Everyone cry and gripe about Stinson, money, and the "Board". When election time rolls around you'll all vote for them again. Or not vote at all. Easy to sit back and gripe; harder to do something about it.

4 more years!

Pension According to the Indianapolis Star..$130,000.00 a year. Seems high to me but, what do I know I'm a Decatur taxpayer that has no input on anything.
