The MSD Decatur School Board holds is regular meeting tomorrow evening, beginning at 7:00 pm. Prior to that will be an executive session beginning at 5:30 pm.
They will hold a public hearing on the budget at the very beginning of their regular meeting. Any member of the public may comment upon any aspect of the budget.
The outrageously inadequate agenda is posted here.
To see what a real agenda looks like, I will send you to Perry Township School Board's website posting - just click here.
The most recent meeting was a special session to ratify the teacher contract. If you click on 'Aug 16 special meeting' you will get access to a review of that contract and everything.
The last regular meeting of the Perry School Board was on August 9. To access it, click on the "2010" bar under Active Meetings. All topics will appear in the left panel. Clicking on any topic will display more information than you'll ever get from Decatur's Board.
Take, for instance, 'personnel report'. You can actually view that entire report. I requested the 'staff report' from the Decatur School Board's July 23 meeting on July 30 and still haven't received it. They don't want you to know what is going on and what is being decided at the Decatur meetings. And, even after the fact, they do their darnedest to keep the information away from the public. Meanwhile, other School Boards are operating with all due respect for their communities.

Checked the website for fiscal restructuring and board minutes. Did not find that Board ever approved charging students #10 to park their cars and denying students the opportunity to park their cars (an therefore the right to drive to school) if they haven't paid for their book rental. Maybe the board will have a resolu tion tomorrow night?????
The absence of using technology on the board meetings is blatant. Check all of the other township websites. The Superintendent and the Board purposefully keep the community in the dark. No way are they in the 21st century. They give new meaning to secrecy.
Just out of curiosity, I saw the Decatur school board has a "Pledge of Allegiance" as part of their meeting protocol. One would have to assume they're pledging allegiance to Stinson.
Odds are, that's right. Their allegiance obviously begins and ends with Stinson. It sure as hell isn't to the students, their parents or the taxpayers. I suspect the school board worries more about what's on the menu for their 3-course catered in pre-meeting dinner than they do about what's on the meeting's public agenda. The worm will turn one day.
So when do the next 3 come up for re-election? Maybe a little more planning for people out there will get more to run for the positions. We have to have some new blood.....Soooo Pat please start letting everyone know when and what areas will be up for grabs.
Head Up:
The public meeting and the hearing are being held at Decatur Central High School!!!! tonight. Are they expecting a large crowd?? Hope so.
The new Athletic Director, Kelly McWilliams, is speaking tonight. Anyone involved with athletics notice any changes so far this year?
Anon 3:47 yea....the Boys Cross Country team had to forfit their first match yesterday (Monday) because they didn't have a bus.
Here we go again - no one putting kids first. They will probably say they didn't have money for a bus!!!! Stand up - speak out. But I do understand we all know if you speak up someone will suffer. Amazing.
