A Free-For-All

Sorry, but I'm snowed under. Let's have a free-for-all. If you have a topic you want to cover - post it. What's on your mind? Those wacky folks over at the Statehouse got your attention, maybe?

Since it looks like school vouchers will happen, wonder how many students will leave Decatur Township and enroll somewhere that knows how to give kids a decent education???

Looks like year round school is a go at Decatur. Not this coming school year but the following. WHY?! When are they going to stop these stupid "trendy" educational things?! What good is year round school going to do? What; they think if they throw more of it on the wall some of it will stick!?

Maybe they learned about"year round school" at one of the expensive school board junkets they went on

Do Decatur teachers want year round schools? Do parents have a choice? Is this another committee project? Who is on the committee?

Anon 6:23: There are/were no committees. Who knows or cares what the teachers want; the board and superintendant knows best right? And cathy wiseman doesn't even live in the township.

Why haven't the legislators looked at administrative salaries? They do not have collective bargining and simply assign a new salary and all the good ole boys(and girls get a very high income..especially supers.

I wish we had more Decatur tax payers who have the savy of the Wayne residents. Perhaps Stinson contracting his former administrators would come to an end, along with his retirement package. (ps. I do not live in Decatur)

Nothing will change unless the board hires a new superintendent who doesn't already work in Decatur.

Looks like year round school is coming to Decatur. Looks like teachers get to choose their calendar. Depends on calendar which teacher your child gets and which school they attend. Guess Decatur has plenty of money for increased transportation costs and utility costs and maintenance costs. Lots of money. Wonder which principals will be year round? Lots of questions.

based on the information at the meetings, year round school is district wide - not just one school. That would be a transportation nightmare that they don't have the money to support. The teachers that were at the meetings support year round calendars.

Any one heard anything about the dress code issue?

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH DRESS CODE FOR 8TH GRADERS GOING TO HS NEXT YEAR? I KEEP HEARING THEY WILL HAVE TO KEEP WEARING UNIFORMS?
IF SO THIS WOULD BE SO UNFAIR AND SETTING THEM UP FOR BELITTLING AND BULLYING FROM UPPERCLASSMEN. PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS NOT THE CASE

IF FRESHMEN HAVE TO WEAR UNIFORMS NEXT YEAR SO SHOULD ALL GRADES OF HIGH SCHOOL.....

Has everyone filled out and returned a bus reservation form for next year? If not, call the school and request one asap. Many kids did not receive. Bus drivers are being let go based on response to this form. Everyone but teachers has to reapply for their job, even if they've had it for 20 years based on a point system that has supposedly been in place all year but not introduced to the employees until this week. Tax referendum is in the works while administrators still get HUGE salaries, vehicles and gas to drive back and forth to work. All out of the township. Tehy don't have to worry about rising taxes. They just take and take and take from the kids and families of the township.
